First Eucharist

First Communion and First Reconciliation

The normal age for children to receive first Holy Communion is 2nd Grade.

All candidates should be at least 7 years old at the beginning of the Academic year, and have reached the age of reason (the ability to know right from wrong and to understand that the Eucharist is the Body and Blood of Christ).

The Diocese of Colorado Springs requires that all candidates must have been enrolled and participating in Religious Formation for two years before receiving a sacrament. This means children must be enrolled and attend Religious Education through 1st and 2nd Grade in order to receive first Communion and first Reconciliation at the end of 2nd Grade.

Registration takes place every year in August; classes begin in September and end in May.

Parents are required to attend Parent Preparation sessions in either English or Spanish.
