Sacraments

Baptism

Baptism Preparation classes are required for both parents & godparents. Class size is limited, so participants MUST call the parish office to register in advance. Call 473-4633, ext. 110 to register for a class.

To be a godparent, the CANON law (cc.874) requires that the godparent (s) be, himself or herself, a fully initiated Catholic Christian, having recieved the three sacraments: Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist and practicing the Catholic faith. If married to anyone, the marriage must have taken place in a Catholic church with a priest or deacon. Only one godparent is required and he/she must be 16 years of age. If there are two godparents, one must be male and the other female. Cathedral policy requires the godparent attend baptism preparation class prior to baptism.  A photo copy of the child's birth certificate is required.
